Iran cinema to mark Rasoul Mollaqolipour

In conjunction with Iranian filmmaker Rasoul Mollaqolipour’s tenth passing anniversary, a tree will be planted at the Iranian Cinema Museum to his memory.

The event will take place at a memorial ceremony held in honor and memory of the late director by his family, friends and cinema personalities on March 4th, 2016.

Born 1955 in Tehran, Rasoul Mollaqolipour is an Iranian film director, producer and screenwriter who began his career as a photographer and made his directorial debut with the 16mm feature film ‘Neinava’.

He directed a number of movies, including ‘A Boat to the Beach’ (1985), ‘The Horizon’ (1988), ‘Majnoon’ (1990), ‘The Refugee’ (1993), ‘The Survivors’ (1995), ‘A Trip to Chazabeh’ (1995), ‘Help Me’ (1998), ‘Heeva’ (1998), ‘The Burnt Generation’ (1999), ‘Poisonous Mushroom’ (2001) and ‘My Father's Farm’ (2002) which mostly deal with the eight-year Iraqi-imposed war and its aftermath.

His film ‘Flight at Night’ (1986) received the Best Film Award at the 5th Fajr International Film Festival.

‘Heeva’ received the Crystal Simorgh for Best Directing and Best Film at the 17th Fajr Film Festival.

Rasoul Mollaqiolipour died March 5, 2007, Nowshahr, Mazandaran Province, Iran.
